St. Paul’s Co-educational College (SPCC) is a Christian school founded in 1915 by the vestry of St. Paul’s Girls’ School. In 1927, the School moved to its present premises at Macdonnell Road, Mid-Levels of Hong Kong Island. It was renamed as St. Paul’s Co-educational College in 1945 when it officially became the first co-educational school in Hong Kong.
In September 2002, the School commenced its six-year transition from an essentially 100% Government funded school to a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school. This new scheme provides the school with more flexibility in curriculum planning and resources management.
Starting from 2008, the new primary school premises located at Wong Chuk Hang is fully operational. The premises vacated by our primary school at Macdonnell Road are now being redeveloped to improve the facilities for the secondary school.
For 2008/09 secondary 1, secondary 2 and secondary 3, there are 7 classes, each of 33 students. The students will also be organized into smaller sets in English, Chinese and Mathematics classes. For secondary 4 and secondary 5, there are 6 classes which is organized into smaller sets for English. For Form 6 and Form 7, there are 4 classes.
Starting from year 2010, senior secondary 1 (secondary 4) students will be able to opt for the new Local Curriculum (Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education) or International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma) Curriculum. IB students will take a one-year school-based foundation course and then the IB Course in senior secondary 2 and 3.
As part of our curriculum, all secondary school students participate in various experiential learning, such as Secondary 1 Life Education Camp, Secondary 2 Chinese Culture and Putonghua Camp in Beijing, Secondary 3 Sustainable Development Camp in Nansha, Secondary 4 Outward Bound Training Course, Form 6 Universities and Companies attachment programmes. During the term-breaks and summer holidays, our school also organizes various special programmes such as international conferences, community services and study trips. Students are also encouraged to enroll in our various overseas exchange programmes with nine schools in seven cities in Australia, Canada, Mainland China, Singapore and the United States to further expose themselves to the world and broaden their horizons.
